Bug Cupcakes!

We went to a birthday today at the Seattle Bug Safari and I of course thought it would be fun to make the cupcakes theme appropriate. The cupcakes are chocolate with a cookies and cream filling. Hidden in the filling was a gummy worm. The top was frosted with the cookies and cream frosting, dipped in Oreo "dirt" and then frosted again the green "grass" buttercream topped with a sugar bug. Yummm!!

I think I have found my niche. I love making cupcakes. I love the creative process of combining flavors and experimenting with cake and icing. I made Key Lime Pie cupcakes which were the best cupcakes I think I have ever had. They tasted exactly like a key lime pie. The mini's are my Spiced Chai Cupcakes and then Samoas. In my day of selling girl scout cookies, we called them Caramel Delights, but today they are called Samoas. Yummy combination of caramel, chocolate and coconut. So good!!

Simple, Elegant 12yr old Birthday Cake!

It was all about purple for my niece's 12th birthday cake. I had to glam it up a bit with some gold dragees, but I stuck to the request of purple. :)
