16th Birthday Duck Cupcakes!

These cupcakes were made for a 16 year old who loves ducks. She also loves Johnny Depp from Pirates of the Caribbean, Harry Potter and so much more. Her mom asked me to make duck cupcakes out of frosting, which was a challenge, but I think it turned out super cute. The ducks are Johnny Depp, Harry Potter, Issaquah High School Cheerleaders, Musical, and the movie "Easy A" duck. Everything is completely edible and the duck keeps it shape by a secret (ok, not secret) ingredient- the top of an ice cream cone!

Next up... Lightning McQueen!!

The Wedding

I have been terrible about posting on the blog the last few weeks!! I had the honor of making the cupcakes, cake and cake pops for a friends wedding. When I walked into The Hollywood Schoolhouse in Woodinville, I was blown away at how beautiful the setting was and all of the wonderful decorations made by the bride. She had a dessert table that had perfectly coordinated candy, chocolate covered oreos, handmade signage and of course my dessert additions. It was beautiful. My pictures do not do it justice. It was simply beautiful!! Thank you Marin & Mike & Congratulations!!

Dinosaur Cake & Cupcakes

This cake was made for a 4 year old birthday boy. His mom gave me the dinosaur pan to make the kids cake and then asked for cupcakes to go along with it. Cupcakes are chocolate cake with vanilla buttercream, topped with buttercream "grass" and a dinosaur egg- an ultimate malt ball. It seems I am all about malt balls this week.

Kindergarten Graduation Cupcakes

Chocolate Malt Cupcakes with chocolate malt buttercream frosting. Topped with a very cute graduation cap made from a malt ball and flattened tootsie roll. I cannot take full credit for the cap- a very good friend from school helped come up with the idea. Thanks Charleen!

Thank You Sisters!

Every year St. Alphonsus receives a group of nuns from the SOLT Society. They spend the year as aids in the classrooms, working in the extended care room as well as doing many other wonderful things for our school. After they complete the school year with us they move on to their final studies in New Mexico. We are always so blessed to have them, and wanted to say Thank You for being so loving and wonderful with our kids.

Farewell Keegan!!

Birthday!

A very special friend always orders cakes for her kids and her husband, and I thought she deserved a birthday cake as well! I made a chocolate cake with chocolate mousse and fresh strawberry filling. Her daughter decided she needed the strawberries and flowers and I took it from there.

Italian Dinner Dessert

All I can say is oh my god! I saw this on a blog I sometimes follow, Cafe Coco. It looked so good, and perfect for this event. It's a Rich Chocolate Cake filled with Chocolate Mousse, topped with Italian Meringue Buttercream and chocolate covered strawberries. So Good!!!

A very sweet little girl turned 1 this weekend and her favorite animal is a ladybug. Her middle name is rose so her mom wanted me to combine those two for cake and cupcakes. This was my first time doing buttercream roses and I think they turned out pretty well!

Happy Birthday!

Three layer chocolate cake with chocolate ganache buttercream filling for this birthday cake. We had a kid/adult party for my good friend and while it was chaotic and crazy, it was also fun. I hope everyone had fun and the birthday girl enjoyed her party. Oh and yes those are Angry Birds on top! :)

Brazilian Brigadieros!

I saw this recipe on Epicurious and they looked so good, that I had to try it. The only thing I would change is the sprinkles you roll them in. I would use a much better quality sprinkle or dark chocolate nibs I found at Central Market. These are a very sweet but not too sweet brazilian fudge. Again, so yummy!

French Macarons

I have attempted French Macarons before and they were awful, but I think they are so pretty that I wanted to try again. These are french macarons with a chocolate raspberry ganache filling. So good!
